I have benefitted from a range of experiences with students on both
sides of the Atlantic.
I have molded clay-boats with children who have
fled war-torn regions and
sought safe-haven in Berlin, had frank conversations
with Milwaukee teenagers
about gun violence, drug dealing and sex trafficking
while we installed murals
in the community garden where a condemned house
once stood,
and instructed video editing to high school students in
downtown Linz, Austria.

I aspire to produce work that is socially relevant and that uses the media
and materials that best convey the particular subject of the piece.
Whether working in painting, on community murals, or on editing videos
and digital images, my goal is to deepen viewers’ understanding of the
actions and stories portrayed.
